Yes, openGl games, UT2k4, FarCry, its the Pro
EDIT: Now why is toms hardware just a discredited place? its served me pretty damn well.
PCGamer also claims the X800 Pro is nicer
I went down the initial 6800U reviews that Nvidia had posted, and looked at thet X800 reviews on those sites, only 1/10 said the 6800 is better
Which source would you like? Hothardware?
"We were also witness to these new Radeons handing, NVIDIA's new equally as impressive GeForce 6800 Ultra a lesson in performance in leading edge game engines like Far Cry, Splinter Cell, and Halo. At first glance, after running the GeForce 6800 Ultra through its paces, we weren't confident that ATi could pull if off quite frankly, but they have and in a big way."
Hothardware
Maybe Anandtech?
"With ATI's performance on par in older games and slightly ahead in newer games, the beefy power supply requirement, two slot solution, and sheer heat generated by NV40 may be too much for most people to take the NVIDIA plunge. The bottom line is the consumer here, and its good news all around."
They all say the X800Pro beats out even the 6800U sometimes in all the new engines
Anandtech

there's just one tiny detail though... in both reviews they used detonator drivers no newer than 61.11. I agree with their conclusion based on that, but if you look at a measurement I did a while ago I'm sure you'll see my point. The 6800 cards weren't all that fast before 61.32, but after that release things changed. I haven't benchmarked a gt myself, but I would suspect the performance gain is very close
also, i don't trust quite a few of the reviews at tomshardware because they have a long history of having results that are incidentally favorable to whoever has bought that month's banner spot

Give the ATi Cards a spin wiht the 4.7 or 4.9 cats and youll see some major increases as well
Niether company has yet to get their cards to show their max perforamnce,
I say Hardware hell should rebenchmark all of these things at around christmas time.
(other then that, CHECK YOUR PRIVATE MESSAGES, lol)

6800GT also runs far too hot, and lacks performance in next gen engines.(if you want to argue.. don't... i don't have time for this crap)
Just read this http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2...0504/index.html
EDIT:In Next-Gen engines like UT2k4 and FarCry the Pro outdoes the 6800Ultra, it should PWN the GT
If u crank the settings up, the 6800 is a dieing baby
"In Halo, the GeForce 6800 Ultra can eke out a slim lead. This is due in great part to the fact that we tested without anisotropic filtering."'
I run 16xAF so...What do you think Id want?
The FSAA on NVIDIA Cards makes them unplayable, check the UT2k4 Specs under Image Quality
o yeh and the X800Pro and XT are clocked higher then the 6800Ultra

Cough.....fanboy....cough...... The numbers yopu are quoting are old and don't reflect benchmarks does using newer drivers. I can't for the life of me figure out how you can claim that the X800 series is more future ready than the 6800 series, not a single ATI card even supports the new shaders, something games are already beging to support.
One other thing that I don't really understand is all the talk of HL2 performance being far superior on ATI cards. I think people are refering to the very early benches taken by Valve about a year ago. All I can say to that is A: whole new line of cards and B: several new drivers have been released sense then.

Yeh I am a bit of an ATi fanboy now(i used to be a huge nvidia fanboy before the Fx series, I was really let down)
Also for the newer drivers, Did you even read what I said after that?
The point is, both nvidia and ATi are going crazy on the performance jumps with each new driver set(the 4.9 betas are 20-30% more efficent on OpenGL with the X800, so Team Radeon claims), especially for the 6xxx and Xxxx. The benchmarks really can't last that long. Once the performance jumps slow to about 1-2% then the cards can trully be benchmarked, which should be around christmas
As for new shaders, Nvidia developed them, of course they don't support them, but many games don't support Shader 2.0 let alone 3.0. ATi has its 3dc compression which should put up as good a fight as teh Shader 3.0 will, ATi lacks built in 9.0c support though, which is really odd... because I don't see the difference between c and b.
The gap on the benchmarks is closing, but both the ATis and Nvidias have had decently sized perforamance increases, however, ATi's will outperform nvidias on HL2, why? because if HL2+ATi is anything like D3+nvidia, then it iwll exist, there are a few good comments on why D3 is built for nvidias, if HL2 is built for ATis, then the difference should be as dramatic as those benchmarks show.

More proof of quickly evolving drivers, the newest article on THG http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2...9/doom3-03.html uses the 4.9 Betas and the 9800XT beats out the 5950U a good bit of the time and always beast the 5900XT, thats a pretty major difrernce from the 4.6 or 4.7 used in the HardOC D3 benchmarks.
I say a rebenchmark at christmas time would do justice.
(make is a holiday buyers guide or something)
