I am going to dissassemble my P4 rig and put the majority of internals into a shuttle sff base unit and use it as a digital media centre for my living room, it will also be connected to my wi-fi network and 1.5Mbit cable connection.
I can't blimin wait for my new stuff to arrive!...

It is going to rock... This will be my 3rd PC in the house, all of which are decent gamng rigs! My mates will be able to play the latest games on my new sff (Small Form Factor!) pc via wireless keyboard and mouse on a 32" tv and will never realise that its a pc, half the size of an X-Box, sitting under the tv running Doom 3 @ at least a constant 60fps... I have a LAN party booked for the first Saturday after pay-day and will expect to play Doom 3 4-Player or I will be seriously miffed...

ok for a real reponce to your question " I have the choice of exchanging my x800 Pro for a 6800GT next week, should I do it? "
ok first off why would you want to swap for a card virtualy the same?
lets face facts and forget all this fan boy stuff from mostly all other replys.
what are u going to use your cards for?
if you only going to sit there day after day running bench marks and clocking your card fair enough! i can see a point in swapping, if you are going to do this mod your x800 to a x800xt it only takes 10 min and you enable all 16 pipelines and it works a treat.
but if you want a great card for gaming then stick with your x800 the frame rate diffrence from game to game,
will change with either card, some games will be better on some and not on others.
to be perfectly honest with out being a sad geek you will not visualy see and diffrence in frame rates , between cards unless you are sad enough to have fps showing on screen all the time.
you call all argue ati or nvidia all day long and show me all the bias graphs all you like, but get some decent hardware and a good set of drivers (dna / omega) and either card will be fine for any software there is around at the moment.
non of the graphs you show are in real time , most reviewrs run tests on a lab type machine, nobody takes in to account the hardware your using as it dramaticaly affects how well your graphics card runs any way.
top and bottom if you want the best gameing experiance make sure you got a good system , good drivers.
for me i would have either cards you ask, but for the trouble of swapping over , i cannot see the point.
personaly i would not swap one for the other no matter wich one i had, you will only be disapointed as in real life you will see virtualy no diffrence between them.

just too bad that only a few x800's are possible to mod, and you need reasonably specialized stuff to do it, since extremely few softmods work.

this is a funny statement. benchmarks are rendered in real-time. we show average framerate, and sometimes minimum. when you test video cards you do it with the same hardware that you used in previous tests, so you can obviously see what cards are faster than the other. the hardware we use is just the same as what you'd find in any store

"you need reasonably specialized stuff to do it,"
sorry but to mod a x800 is extreamy easy all you need is a screwdriver and a rear windscreen heater repair kit from halfords or any other car shop! and a sharp knife!
um how many have u done personaly none! i expect so how can u comment.
specialised i think not!!
also i have modded pleny of diffrent makes 0f x800`s and so far i have had 95% pass rate.
as for bench marking many reviews use a freshly built system, how many people in the real world have a fresh built system from scratch with new o/s with no other apps ect,
they tend to use all brand new parts,
i would take a good guess most people out in the field have many 2nd hand parts and old parts in there system ,
also it is fact quality of hard ware reflects the quality of out put from a graphics card!
your not talking to a kid now!
so to your reply what actual help did it help to a question! non you strike me as nothing but a troll!
looking to pick holes in some one who knows there stuff try harder next time!

dont call be trolls its not nice!
hi guys ive been on a trip away from home for a few days! Nice to be back!
i cannot say which card is better as they both have pros and cons! They are really very similar in performance(I THINK)!
I can't afford £300+ on a graphics card! I have got 9600xt 256 which didnt lag on some of the most recent games like doom 3 on ultra high!
gonna wait for a price drop before considering purchase! spent a small fortune on games!
