I like my 6800 GT.

Now that it works. If I were going for the top of the line cards (x800 XT vs. 6800 Ultra) I'd get the x800 XT, but at the mid-level I think the 6800 GT outperforms the x800 pro. The slower clock of the 6800 GT is actually good because it allows more headroom for overclocking, as I found out--->

Either card is very fast though, but I'd rather have the card that's faster in Doom 3 than HL2, since Doom runs slower overall (a 10fps difference matters more at 50-60fps than at 100-110fps).

sure according to those. I have benchmarks where the gt gets 60fps in HL2 and the pro gets 110. Don't kid yourself.

A x800 pro is not as good as a geforce 6800gt
but a x800xt is better than a geforce 6800 ultra so if u got the money get a x800xt or go with the 6800 gt
is your best bet. :thumbup:

Yeh in half life 2 theres something like a 30 percent differnce in a 6800 gt and a x800pro
but were talking about all games not just doom 3 and half life 2 i wasnet planing on buying a top sepc card just to play 1 or 2 games here.

i used to own a radeon 9800 pro and it worked fine but for price and performance u cant go wrong with a 6800 gt.

im saving up for a 64 bit 3500 pro now then i should see some differnce yet again.
more ram as well i think. :thumbup:

Hi,
the x800 pro should only have 12 pixel pipelines,I had one with all 16 enabled but the 6800GT Comes with 16 and out performed my x800 pro by 300 points in 3dmark.the Geforce cards also come with support for Pixel Shader 3.0 (dx9) and the Radeons do not.

in 2-3 years when Pixel Shader 3.0 is really going to be used ATI will have it already. till then I will have 2-3 new PCs....

First. No one is intergrated PX3.0 yet. the 4 pixel pipes aren't used until about 1600x1200 on max. I don't usally play on over 1024x768, not because I can't but because I don't want to have it higher then my dekstop res. The hihger clock is more useful. (what is it 100mhz faster?)

A crapload of 6800gts are faulty, they still run too hot, nvidia's drivers are falling back in quality compared to ATis, and well, the X900 is really what im looking for.

Many Games will be updated (via a patch) to use the new 3.0 Shader in the near future so hopefully we'll see a bit more of what it's gonna do!
