Glad it helped. Must be a thing with the GF4's or something, because people at GameFAQs with the Ti4200 had the same problem.

Another good reason to buy a nice cool CPU

Hmm, maybe, when you aren't rolling in an ass load of money, you can't keep up with "the leetest" hardware for your PC. I could care less how I get my PC to work, as long as it f**king works, I'm happy.

you guys... are lucky.
i play doom3 well under minumum requirements.
128mb rdram
256mb geforcefx5200 240/400 overclocked to 300/500
how come when people overclock ultra badass graphics cards like 9800's and such they only go up by like 33 mhz, im using stock cooling, except for an extra exhuast fan on my case, and i have never had to lower it from 300/500 thats an extra 50/100mhz.

oh yeah back to the problem...
doom 3 runs slow as shit on low settings!
i just installed dx9.0c and it seemed to run smoother from a new game perspective but i never even got to any monsters there.
i got rather far the other day with fps's down to 0 when a door opened. and when avything was going on. THAT SUCKS>!!(not as bad as i made it sound, but lag sucks nuts, especialy at lowest settings, i had to turn off special effects, and the people look soo gay!)

KEEP IN MIND THAT DOOM3 FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE AUTOMATICALY ASSUMES YOU ARE USING A 64 MB VIDEO CARD! SO IN CONSOLE TYPE COM_VIDEORAM YOURVIDEORAM for me i did com_videoram 256 and saw a hgue performance boost over 64, so use whatever ram ur graphics card has.

What sound card do you have. There have been compatability issues with Nvidia GPUs and Sound Blaster cards. It's called the scream of death. The comp will lock up and scream at you. I had the same problem. I bought an ATI 9800 PRO and was able to reinstall the sound card without any issues. If you look hard enough, you can find the article on the web about the compatability issues. Also, and I'm only saying this incase you don't know how to get there, right click on the desktop, click Properties, click on Settings, then click the Advanced button. Make sure all your GPU settings are default such as Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic Filtering. When I tweaked those I got lock ups. When I reset them to default, everything ran fine.

Oh yeah, do what everybody else says and update your drivers

Remember: Nvidia and Sound Blaster do not go together.
