Hello all,
Wanted to tell everyone that I got my new rig yesterday,
it's a Acer Aspire 2012 laptop...
Here are some of the specs: - Intel Pentium M - 1,5 Ghz
- Intel 855GME chipset
- Intel Pro WIFI
- 15.4" WXGA TFT LCD
- 40GB Ultra DMA-100 HDD
- DVD-CDRW combo drive
- 512MB DDR SDRAM
- ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Pro
And well, I haven't dealt much with notebooks in the past, and I am really impressed about it,
I never knew for example that these babies can fluxuate processor speed to save battery power, really nifty!
Anyway, while installing my development tools, I thought I'd post this message on the boards to test the WiFi in my living room...
By the wat, I'like to know if there are users here that also use notebooks and what their experience is with them...
Thanks

yeh man, post a pic of the ferret, they are outlawed in cali. Ferrerts kick ass
anyway the laptop isn't bad, ATi has a very strong grip on laptop gfx cards, and the 9700 is good... but its still not that good, I woulda waited to see if I could get my hands on the 9800 Moblitiy...
9700 ain't bad
http://www6.tomshardware.com/mobile/200402...on_9700-07.html
splinter cell is playable
9800 is amazing
http://www6.tomshardware.com/mobile/200407...on_9800-09.html
Outperforms the 9700 by a fat bit in Splinter cell
in far cry outperforms the 5900U and the 5700U, THE FULL DESKTOP CARDS DO WORSE THEN THE MOBLIE
in ut2k3 only the 9800XT and the 5900U outperform it, in all tests it kicks the full 5700U, the Mobile 9700, the full 9600XT, and so on and so forth.
EDIT: ATi's 9800Moblie also has the new 3Dc normal mapping technology of the ATi X800

Oeff ... I wish I had 9800 money, but this suits me perfectly though,
I like to play games, but I'm probably not a gamer, I just get whatever game is out, play it, and sell it...
Us students don't make that much money you know , but I agree with you... for once

I use my Dell Laptop half the time of my computing time.
Specifications: - Intel Centrino 1.4
768 MB DDR Ram
60GB HDD
Ati Radeon 9600 Pro 128 MB
4x DVD RW
11mbit WLan inbuilt
15.1 Inch Display (res: 1280*800)
I'm very happy with it and fits my needs perfect. The Pro's for me are the WLan and the DVD Writer which both I don't have on my desktop.
I can play Doom3 on 1024*768 with Medium Details perfectly.

I bought it for €1100, and I'm almost flat broke right now
Still need more ram for the notebook, and if my budget allows it,
a new 320GB hd for my PC...
