ive recently reformatted my system and used the latest driver for my radeon 9800xt, but get white snowy bits on screen when I play, apart from that it runs like a dream. Anyone know why?

I get the speckles when my card is overclocked. It's either that, or you need to improve your cooling on the video chip.

yep...usually happens when you overklocked it to much. if you keep itthat way your card is gonna die

i see , thanks. i havent overclocked it, so I guess the fan must be not good, its quite a new card as well. Any suggestions as to how I can improve it?

maybe there is a lot of Dust in your Fan, can remember that my ol' GF4ti, got almost stuck once, cause of the amount of dust in it

another thing is that ATI cards got this stooooopid sticker on the fan that tends to fall of and block the fan.
And i know there was a flawed series of ATI 9800 card sets...dunno if it was the 9800XT thou.

just like to say problem solved guys, thanks for all your help.
the power conector to the card wasnt in properly, meaning the fans wernt on at all
i guess ive been running it all this time with no cooling, never had a problem till now.. guess im lucky it hasnt been fried

if u used the ATi(40% or Humus) tweak then you might see those, its also a slight glitch on some ATi Cards.
