Hi guys,
I have a P IV 3.2, original Intel 865GBF mobo, and 256 RAM, and an ATI 9800 Pro 128mb. My problem is that my pc will boot fine upto the desktop, but when I try to play any game (Unreal Tournament 2003, Madden 2003, NBA Live 2003, and Emperor Rise of the middle kingdom, and Il-2) my computer restarts. Now, I read that I needed a bigger power supply, so I got a 400W power supply.
Also, I have upgraded the ATI drivers from the site to the latest ones, and changed OS from XP to 2000. All to no avail. My system will run fine up to the desktop, but if I start a game, it will restart.
If anybody can help me out, I would really appreciate it.
Sush

I HAVE THE SOLUTION! This happened to me with my pentium computer and Abit AI7 mobo(intel 865 chipset). In your bios, turn off hyperthreading. This will solve all your problems. You had the same problem as me- I turned it off and everything worked flawlessly.

Why would you want to turn off Hyperthreading? I am running an Asus P4P800 with the Intel 865 chipset and I don't have any problems. Maybe if he did turn it off it would help but this cannot be the problem.

Hi Orion,
First up, thanks for the help. I have Directx 9.0b.
Hi Fycus,
Again, thanks. I will try the HT thing. Right now, I am desperate enough to try anything.
Also, I read an article saying that memory could be the problem. Here is is. http://forums.devhardware.com/showthread.p...=hybrid&t=16508 (Article by v4n3x). What do you guys think?

depends what brings up your bios. Try f8 or delete key as SOON as your computer turns on. Once in the bios, look for Intel Features, Hyperthreading, Bios Features, or anything semi similar to that. Once you find Hyperthreading: Enabled- press enter to configure it and switch it to "disabled". Save your settings and start up your computer.

Your memory "could" be an issue. Nevertheless, go into your system device manager and make sure that you only have one video adapter driver installed. Your monitor needs to be correctly identified
in there as well. If you have any devices with "?" by them, or other multiple occurrances of other devices you know should have only 1 entry, delete all but the correct one.
Make sure in your system bios that you have your agp window set to at least 64 megabytes. It may n ot be called agp window in you bios, but you should be able to figure out what it is.
Worst case, uninstall your video card and monitor drivers and let windows find them upon bootup, or
manually install after boot.
