Need Help With SP1 - Page 2

i have sp1 and its rock solid stable=thats after i installed the millions of microsoft patches and updates...but yeah- AVOID sp2, ive heard nothing but horror stories so far...

THe reason that i need SP is that my hardrive shows up only 120 not 160 gigs.

what makes you think SP2 is gonna fix that?
and don't forget that you loose about 9gig when installing WinXP...go look for the other 30...unless you set up your patitions wrong and got 30 gig free flowting.

I will strongly hope you do have a 160gig hd...and not a.....120g.......

I am living proof that SP2 completely ruins everything good going, please do not install it and god bless you lucky guys who didnt yet... :francesco: I installed it, and i couldnt even boot my pc in safe mode. Even recovery console and windows repair screwed it up. After I "repaired" windows, it said it was unsuccessful and I did it again and my pc took literally 3 minutes to start up(normally 15 seconds). I decided to reformat because it took 3 minutes to start up every time I booted up my pc, and every program seemed buggier than before. After a reformat, I installed all my drivers and patches including service pack 1 and all the windows updates. I didnt want to install service pack 2, but I figured it had something to do with some files I used that edited the boot screen- so I did it anyways. It screwed up my pc to a point that it was previously at yesterday. I'm left with 4 wasted hours of re-installing XP, regetting drivers and other hardware accessories. I have to wake up tomorrow, and spend another 3 or so hours doing it all again, except not installing Service pack 2. I liked microsoft, but now I hope those son B!tch3s get hit by a big boot in the faces so they realize they their stuff sucks. Farewell, I have no other reason to stay on my computer right now, it sucks....ARGH!

Klick me to see if you will be able to run your normall apps after sp2.
And me to see that ms is some sort of controll freak. (the TCP/IP link)

Damn, sure am glad I haven't installed SP2. Anybody know where the Windows Update keeps it's downloaded files so I can delete what of SP2 got downloaded, and nobody else who uses my comp installs it through that?

Find xpantispy.exe on your winxp cd, disable auto update and shit, and then do updates manually. You'll find some other interesting options in it.
