I am not very computer savy, so if I come across as a total novice, it's because I am. I have downloaded a couple mods for Doom 3 and unzipped them to the Program Files/Doom 3/base directory, but when I start the game and click the "mods" option, they do not show up.
Can you only use mods in Multiplayer (I'm trying to use them in single player)? If you can use them in single player, is there something I'm missing to get them to show up in the "mods" option on the opening screen? Try not to flame me too hard. ;) |

Yes you can use them in single player ...that what's it for ;)
I have the same problem...Well not really a problem but I don't see the mods in my mods menu too. Don't mix mods...because some are not compatible with other's...just place 1 and try the game...See what happens.

>>mods are automatically loaded if they aren't total conversion, all the existing mini-mods are autoloaded<<
meaning that they are loaded and functioning, despite their absence from the "mod" list on game startup? |

some mods requieress that you make a folder for them. I tried most mods out and NONE autostarts with the game. they should be ALL listed in the MODS option. but maybe GH got different mods setup as the one I tried...

As I poke around and learn more, it seems that whether the mod shows up on your "mods" list when you start the game is dependent upon which directory contains the .pk4 file. If you unzip them into the base folder, they are active when the game starts. If you put them in their own folder, parallel to (separate from) the base folder, in C:\program files\doom 3\<your mod here> they may show up in the mods list.
In any case, thank you all for your help, the couple of mods that I've unpacked to my base folder seem to be functioning as intended. The flashlight on the weapons is very convenient without spoiling the added challenge that the lighting of the game environment provides. If anyone knows of a mod pack that will allow a greater clip size for the pistol and shotgun, please let me know. I'm not a big fan of having to pause to reload while being raked by some beastie, and that's the one thing I'm looking for- haven't found it yet. Thanks again. |
