This is a Virus related topic; can I delete a virus by system restore?
Rather not very dangerous "Bloodhound.Exploit.6" virus that Norton was unable to fix/delete anyhow recently infected me; I want to know if I can remove it by system restore? As far as I know this virus does something to the outlook express that can read your computer files. I've tried some of the security updates named "Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-013" which address Microsoft Outlook Express 6, but when I've downloaded it the installation didn't start saying "This update requires outlook Express 6 to be installed" since I don't know which version is mine I also downloaded the "Microsoft Outlook Express 6 SP1" but its the same story. I have SP1 How does u check the Outlook Express version? In addition, if I have to, were can I get Microsoft Outlook Express 6?

The virus probably hides it self and for that matter, backups itself in several locations, so even if a system restore removed the "live" copy of the virus, i think (i would do it if i were the programmer) it would be reactivated when you'd use a determined application.
My advice, go to safe mode, run the antivirus and if it still can find the files, then the virus will be succ. removed. Use this in safe mode (yes you'll have to enter with networking) if you AV doesn't find the virus: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/.../start_corp.asp GL & HF

Yea i know about the Re activation, it happened to me with some Worm virus (some big one that made some mass several months ago)
Any way, I will try the safe mode first - just scan the pc? "AV" ? Thanks ![]()

The strangest thing just happend, as I finished checking the drives on my computer with my anti virus it did not find any thing! Both of my hard drives are perfectly fine, no viruses.
Yes, the scan performed in safe mode. Toke 56 minutes Well I am not sure if I am safe any less then before when I did the virus scan. Any one has an explanation to this weird thing. :Oo:

Had the same problem and this is the best way to get rid of the F***er ;) Just make sure you turn off system restore before doing any of this  If it has left a footprint in SR then it will come back after ReBooting, which you probably knew anyway ![]() |
