A friend of mine has a Radeon 9800 Pro he thinks its one of the best value for money cards around, still I'm thinking of getting a Ge-Force 6800 GT cause the price is good and unlike ATI's Radeon that appears to be a slightly faster version of the 9700 Pro which has been out for a while. Which do you think is the best way to go ATI or NVIDA, no fan boys please...

BTW I already have a Ge-Force 5600 which can run DX2, Thief DS, Doom 3 due to the problems with shader support etc Does anyone know if the 6800 solves the problems with the 5 series?

Oh yeah why the ugrade? November the 16th thats all

My mainboard only supports AGP X4 is it worth buying a new board for AGP X8 support and is there much difference in FPS to make it worth the £50 price tag?

basically the more you spend the more prepared for 2morrows graphics you gonna be, you get what you pay for so its best to just splash out on something like an X800XT and then happily sit there watching doom 3 at 60fps in ultra

I found that www.Aria.co.uk are doing a Radeon X800 XT 256Mb for same price as a Ge-Force 6800 GT which is the better deal? I've heard that the 6800 needs more juice to run it that the X800.

both the 9800 pro and the geforce gt are very nice cards, but make no mistake - the gt has quite a bit more raw power, and nvidia's drivers aren't known for sucking either

6800GT is nice and all.. but its not "the best" that honor goes to the X800 XT PE..

anyhow.. I'd say you don't get the 9800 Pro, it is the best card of that generation, but a X700(if u can find one) should run u about 150-200 and ull be set.. 6800gt is around 400-500

Id wait to get an X700 if i could.

in reality we've all fallen victim to giving either of the coimpanies some rediculous amount of money for a fancy bunch of microchips on a board......................
