I need some help with... counter-strike..

Ok... i know this may sound a little odd... but ok anyways i wanted to play half life to prepare myself with the story before the second one is out.. well i bought the half life platinum collection.. well it includes counter-strike so i decided to play it and see what all the fuss was about cause it was supposed to be good the only thing is... i cant i do the auto update and it says theres an update for counter-strike and it will never get it all servers are like no responsive or something well now i was like.. ok.. so i got the new steam that has all those half life files in it like 700+ megs i figured maybe that would update it but it doesnt... so now im running out of things to try can anyone help me?

i found an update and updated it but i get this error : your version (1.0.0.5) of counter-strike is out of date, but there are no updates to update counter-strike to the latest version.

did i patch it wrong?

OK I make it short no you didnÂ´t do anything wrong.

1.) The Platinum Collection contains Counterstrike CS 1.5 which you can play using starting up Half-Life choosing "Custom Game" and selecting and activating Counterstrike.

Obviously you have noticed it isnÂ´t the newest part. The Auto-Update feature of Half-Life is obsolete, you have to use the Steam client.

2.) With the purchase of the collection you got a cd-key (which by any means you should not give anybody or post in any form on the internet, if you want to play online)

You already updated with the install of steam. Important you gotta start Steam and select Counterstrike in order to play it.
When you started Steam there should be a window with currently installed games and a Counterstrike ICon of Version CS 1.6 double click it and the steam client will download all necessary files you need...hours later the game should start..

Fine/End/Full Stop ;)

With steam you get CS and HL for free :P
