that stupid STUPID windows sp2. im not gona go and wipe my system yet again. i had the latest dx drivers and no issues in dxdiag. then i install sp2 and suddenly "the file directx.cpl is an old version, which could cause problems" what is it playing at? can someone please please for the love of god help me eradicate this problem?

SP2 gives you directX 9c so u don't need to reinstall it after puttin on the service pack.........ok

If you are Reformatting, put SP2 on after a clean install, then put DX9.0c on straight after that. :thumbup:

I have done it this way and have no problems what so ever

As you are probably aware, SP2 is a tempramental F***er at the best of times, so the cleaner the drive when it goes on the better :thumbup:

yeah service pack 2 gives you the newest direct X version (9c) so reformat then SP2. get all yer other drivers and your ready to go...

DirectX doesn't get an entry in the Control Panel.

directx.cpl may come from the Microsoft directx sdk.

there are different versions of DX so maybe try the Redistributable sdk version;

There is also a DX9.0 sdk update that I think will update 9.0c as well;
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Before going the reformat route.

Please keep us informed- lots of DX issues have been cropping up and your feed back can help others.
