Problem installing Far Cry

I just purchased this game, it looked exellent on screenshots and I have played this at my mate's, so I come home, insert the CD, start installing and then, the progress bar stops with a file called "regsetup.exe", them I'm like WTF now?! :rant: , can you help me please

AMD63 3000+
Ati Radeon 9800pro 256mb
DIMM 512mb ram 400Mhz
Windows XP SP2(unistalled, didn't help)
DVD writer(could be that)
Well, it just stops on the regsetup.exe file, I tried in my dad's laptop, everything went ok, why doesn't it work in my comp?

do you have a CD Emulating Program such as DAEMON TOOLS or so? If so, de-install or disable it. Might help, but not sure.

w00t, I never thought on that, I have alc. 120% and that emulating a drive at the moment, will try, thx!

Dude, you cant just uninstall sp2 once its installed. It will totaly fuk up youre system, everything is linked to youre oc, so i bet when you took out sp2, some system files that were important went too. Basicly you have to format and install sp1 again.

thats not true most of the time, if you have system restore on that is, you can uninstall SP2 and it will just put SP1 back on if u had it before, but even if you dont that BS, some stuff might screw up a little, but its doubtful, everything will be fine, just ignore the message that pops up saying the programs wont run right.

Still doesn't work :rant:
It has to be my DVD/RW then, I've tried everything, it has to be that, I'll try to make a CD image and use virtual drive, that should help, if not I'm gonna clean the rom.

i had a problem with my rom drive when i first bought FC and had to change it in the end, even after a firmware update the original Rom drive would still not play it.

Also, there has been problems related with Nero, which can make the cd freeze when the autostart kicks in

if you have Nero, try updating the version and if this does not help then try to borrow a DVD rom drive and stick it in your rig to see if it installs from this.
