If you don't have a graphics card that is compatible with DX9 then you will not be able to run the Sims2

What card do you have?

Press the Windowskey & R (alternativly: [Start] -> [Run]) and type in dxdiag.
on the mainpage are the systemspecs and click the "display" tab to see what graphicscard you have (Name, Manufactuerer, Chiptype).
then tell us.

It sounds like you don't have a video card installed or the card you have installed has no drivers for it

Try downloading and installing this
http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.ph...8f2524e10b25eaa (these are the latest drivers for any Geforce 5-6 series)

Or
http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.ph...b81dc07ba783343 (these are the latest drivers for ATI video cards.)

Try and see if you have a video card (graphics card) in your machine before you install either of these sets of drivers.

im guessing that this guy has "On Board" Video.... in which case you should go buy a Graphics Card.... or if your system is old, a new Computer

Yeah, i was hoping that he had just uninstalled the drivers for the card, but it's looking more and more likely that he does not have a card at all
