HL2 Offline

How do i play HL2 offline.

It states in the instructions that you have to have the "remember my password checked, this has been done.
It also states to leave the "don't save account info" unchecked, which i have done.

I have reinstalled the steam account and HL2 but i still can't seem to play offline :rant: :rant:

yeah same with mine, its the exact same way.....but if you right click half life 2 under "play games" the click properties it says offline mode not ready yet, requires update....so i think steam is too busy or something :bucky!: but it should update your steam folder when it can, then we should beable to play without steam running in back ground......pretty stupid eh..but HOLLY crap this game is good!!

Update: I have managed to run HL2 without my internet connection :thumbup:

I just pulled the USB out and it still runs :thumbup:

Needing an Internet connection to unlock is lame.
Needing an Internet connection to play SP is just plain sad.

Maybe this should be pinned?

Also, is it just me or does the loading time seem very slow

They are trying to protect their investment. In the end HL2 will be pirated like every other software out there but it shows how well their protection is working when the game didn't get put out on the internet (in full form) prior to going live.

Yeah it's a pain in the ass but it totally makes sense.

That maybe so but fo you really think you should have to have another pice of software on your puter just to play a game?

I’m well aware of the logic here.
And I refuse to debate it.

I find it funny though how the user gets a feeling of big brother before the 1st scene

i hate valve for the stupid protection , i hate the hacker for his stupid leak wich delayed the game , and i hate headcrabs...

Well they're not holding a gun to your head, no one is forcing you to play their game. If you do however want to play their game then you have to jump through the hoops they impose on you in order to do so. Right now the Steam servers are using 10,310 MBps of bandwidth that is a HUGE amount of bandwidth. Give it a couple of days my guess is that it will clear up.
