FLAT OUT - PROBLEM

I have following problem:
When I play the game it suddenly stops or reboots my computer. I dont know why it happens. Firstable I was thinking that its cause my processor - AMD Athlon 1.1 ghz. But the game is running without any lag until stop. So this can be my graphic card - GF 4 Ti 4200. So I tried every drivers avaible with no result. I have Win 98 SE so I cant use detonators 61.77. Most recent drivers for my platforn are 61.76. Older drivers dont work as well. help?

Maybe this clears your problem:

So far it looks like NVidia card owners with driver version 66.72 drivers are experiencing difficulties (BSOD/reboots). 61.77 seems to work, so you might want to consider switching to that version if you're having trouble.

Also, for ATI owners, switching from 4.90 to 4.10 has helped some.

We're looking into the both cases and if there's something else as well.

Maybe install the newest version of DirectX? Windows 98 is no longer supported from Microsoft..

The problem is that I have Win 98 and there is no detonators 61.77 for this system. And Ill not have any NT based system inastalled soon.

does the game support Win 98 at all?

Have ya tried goin into the savedgame folder ----> open the Options.cfg file(wit notepad or somethin) -----> and then changeing the SunFlare = TRUE, to SunFlare = FALSE

Well OK, this dates back to Doom 3 when I had to start doing this. I have a Ti 4200 also, and the only way I've been able to play newer games, (Doom 3, CS Source, and some others) is by putting a desk fan pointed on my video card. Otherwise, it just heats up and freezes my PC after a couple minutes. It helped one other person play Doom 3, so it might be worth a shot, I don't know. I had stopped using the fan when I didn't play games for a couple months, but I had to use it again now, so it could help you, I don't know. I just took the side of the case off and put a desk fan near it, and everything works fine.
