HL2 Map loading

Finaly got my hands on HL2(thx Radeon xt)anyway i got a problem
Wich is, after playing trought the first 2 chapters(the Without action/intro chapters)i ran into an error, when finishing chapter 2 LITTLE SPOILER

When jumping over the trains in the railyard, over the whire and walking into the hall the game loads the next area, but crashes to main menu, then i tried loading the save game again, but got This
followed up by this
Someone got the same kind off probs and now how to fix them, or someone just Knows :P it.
The same problem on steampowered(without solution)
Same prob, with solution wich i don't understand/get working

First suggestions since it sounds like something regarding memory would be to decrease your AGP aperture size in the BIOS.

The suggestion from the peep at steampowered.com was to delete or move the file "source models.gcf",
since it holds level structure objects (just guessing that).

Seems you have gotten it via steam so it might be a data corruption, in the above mentioned file.

That´s the only things I can think of at the moment..sorry :francesco:

I would uninstall steam and HL2 then delete steam folder
May have to uninstall HL2 from auto start.
Then reinstall.

Just saying I know I would do that If it were me, I have no idea if it will work.

Right click on your steam icon then click on news,this will take you to the steam website once there click forums at top of page this is where you'll see literally hundereds of people complaing of the same and other problems mainly the one you and i have the memory error!
Bottom line is we have no choice but wait for valve to release a fix!
I've even went as far as uninstalling HL2 as i could'nt help"giving it one more go"as it plays spot on until this memory error c**p pops up.
Oh well back to cod i'll install HL2 again when i hear of a fix"which they say they are working on on the steam news page"

Just use the map command?


It's what I did when I had to get back to where I was when my autosaves got overridden.

Fixed my prob by redowloading the source content(Steam/Steamapps, the source contents)worked fine after that

Glad to hear you got the problem sorted out, but annoying for you anwyways, hope you can still enjoy the game! :thumbup:

I certainly can,also i can suggest playing it to everyone who hasent yet
Only thing is, MUCH people have manny problems/bug's wich arent solved yet so i would advice valve to make a patch pretty soon, cause it's a bit annying when you bought a 50$ game but have to wait for a patch....
