I've had dial up for a good 7 years now and Its finally pissing me off. I want to get a fast cable hookup but I need to know the basics like, what hardware I need and if I should go with COX or not. Lemme know your guy's opinions on the hot set up for high speed internet.

You will probably have to pay a small monthly fee to rent the cable modem, but at least if the rental dies, they just get you a new one.

Yeah, Cox will provide you with a "cable modem" do not rent that modem, purchase it outright, renting them is a waste of money if you have it for more than six months (on average). and when you get it all setup re-do the internet connection wizard, for a connection that is always on,
