Just had a brand new PC built. Installed Sims 2, the intro screen for the game comes up, but nothing else happens. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, and it still doesn't work. I have an NVIDEA AGP 256 mg graphics card, DirectX 9.0, 1GB of RAM, etc...I have what I need. Why won't it work?!?!?

I just got the computer last night. I'm at work so I'll have to check the graphics card box when I get home. I know it's an nvidia AGP 256 mg card...not sure exactly which model it is...but I'm pretty sure it's what I need. I have directx9 installed so that's not the problem...

well if it has 256mb of ram its atleast a 5200, which is Directx9 compatible so thats not the problem. what does it not do? exactly simply telling us it doesnt work isnt enough for us to help... chances are you simply need to update your graphics card drivers. go to the sims site and check their forums see if there are any current issues with the game and any parts in your system....sorry i dont play the game so i cant be more specific.

It ran on my old 700mhz Pentium 3, Radeon 9000 Pro 128mb and 256mb of ram .

Try updating and make sure its DirectX 9.0C. Also if just freezes but you can get back to your desktop by end tasking it or something then check event viewer.
