I got Windows XP Pro SP2. My question is can i reinstall windows XP Pro but using Windows XP Pro without SP2? Will all the programs work as in if i download a patch will it find the registers for the programs? ( if you dont understand what i wrote i will explain)

if you bought it with sp2 it installs it as a whole...i think.

Yeah like these guys said, if its already part o the disc you wont get the option to install without it.. however if you ahve one of the older discs with just SP1 on it, no you dont have to install SP2... im on SP1 right now, myself and it works fine... i fi were you thoug i would install SP2 on a fresh install.. 9 times out of 10 you will experience better performance and a higher s stability than otherwise.

I have one CD with SP1 and another with SP2. I hate SP2 and it sandpapers up my downloads so i am asking if i reinstall windows by inserting cd into cdrom and clicking reinstall without reformating will i have to reinstall everything because i think the regestries would be erased?

Doubt you will have to reinstall everything?
But one thing's for sure in my experiance xp over xp=slooow system
All way's best to back up and reformatt even if it is a sandpapering nightmare :rant:

Yeah, if you have SP2 on a seperate disc then it's no problem, apart from the clean install

As 3izzarre said, make sure you don't overwrite the old XP install, do a clean format install as this will be alot better :thumbup:

you know that you can format windows and reinstall it without touching your other partitions or files...don't ya

Yeah, but if you have programs that put files on Partition C regardless of what installation Partition you choose, like:Norton Internet Security 2004, these will not work after
