I just recently purchased HL2, with CS-Source over steamed.. I downloaded it from steamed after paying 50 bux thru my credit card... When I try to load the game or try to do the 'video stress test' it freezes about 80% into the loading phaze.. and gives me a memory error.. it sais it can't "read" a certain Hex address... Now I have a dell 2400 (yea i know don't bother) with 768 megs of ram, P4 2.2Ghz, and a built in Intel 64meg video controller wired to AGP.. there is no AGP slot on the motherboard.. but there is sodder spots for one, which leads me to believe that the factory on-board video card is AGP.. My question is.. is my video card not compatible with the game with this kinda error.. and do I need an external one? If so, are there any worthwhile for under 200 bux that works in a PCI slot? Yes I have the latest drivers, service pack 2, and direct x 9.0c or whatever the latest version is.. can anyone help me here?? greatly appreciated.. thanks

Onboard video is not going to run HL2,
If you want a PCI card then it is going to be hard to find a powerful one as all cards are either AGP8 or the newer PCI-E. i'm sure there are PCI cards out there that are more powerful than this but i couldn't find any http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9250/index.html This was the best i could find for PCI ![]() Again this wil probably struggle to run HL2 at any descent FPS and Resolution |
