Halflife2 CD key?

I just got HalfLife 2 and installed the 5 CDs on my computer. It askes for a CD Key but the only one i could find was on the back of one of the CD slips. Its not even in the right order that it says the CD key should be in. Ive tryed everything to get it to work....is there something im not doing???
