Unfortunatly there is nothing that will fix this problem apart from a Graphics card (that supports DirectX 9C ).
Onboard graphics are great for watching swirly things go round on your screen while listening to music, but not a lot else The Sims2 is a very CPU and Graphics card intensive game. You need a good system to run it well. I would advise at least 2Gig processor, 1Gig Ram, 9800 (pro/XT) and a decent sound card. I have heard of people sorting out the graphics problems, only to find out the onboard sound is causing problems aswell. ;) People will tell you that The Sims2 will run on less of a machine, and yes it will, but it wil run very poorly with regular stuttering and slowdown It sems to me that this game is more hassle than it's worth. the amount of people that can't run it for one reason or another is amazing. |

Ok.. I know this topic is as old as time.. but I just recently got the game. I installed it but when I try to start it.. it says Failed to find any DirectX 9.0 compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The applicaton will now terminate.
I have read some of the older forums for ideas and I cant find anything that relates to me and my card. My card is a ProSavage DDR with 32 mb of memory. I have DirectX 9.0c dowloaded. It says it in the Diagnostic Tool... I dont know what the problem could be. My computer is a Windows XP and has a memory of 480mb ram and 1.8 GHz Is it useless? Is there something I can dowload or update or do I just have to buy a new video card? |
