Before buying one though, get your specs on here so w can see what you have in your rig  To do this, download and install this http://www.snapfiles.com/get/everest.html This will tell you everything you need to know about what is inside your rig  On the main panel, click display then GPU. This will tell you what graphics card if any, you have. Write this down  About half way down this page is says "DirectX hardware support" we need to know this as well  Do the same with the motherboard =Name of, front side bus, And same with Ram =how much and how fast. Get these details and post them here to get a better judgement of what is wrong  |

*edit* I see you just went to different icons then I would.
If you did then start it Double click computer icon then click on summary icon. A list should appear in right window with much info like; Motherboard CPU Type Intel Pentium 4HT, 3200 MHz (16 x 200) Motherboard Name Asus P4C800-E Deluxe (5 PCI, 1 AGP Pro, 1 WiFi, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394) Motherboard Chipset Intel Canterwood i875P System Memory 1024 MB (DDR SDRAM) [this is RAM] BIOS Type Asus AMI (07/21/03) Communication Port Communications Port (COM1) Communication Port Printer Port (LPT1) Display Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT (256 MB) 3D Accelerator nVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT Monitor Sony GDM-F520 [21" CRT] (8000112) Multimedia Audio Adapter Creative SB0240 Audigy 2 Platinum Sound Card With what you posted if effective clock: 503MHz was effective clock: 533MHz I'd guess you have a Intel Pentium 4, 2400 MHz CPU??-someone else may be able to figure this out. Also you said "i didn't uninstall directx 9 because i don't know where to go to do that." When it was suggested that you RE-install DX9. '

Basically as i suspected, you have an onboard graphics chip, which in laymens terms, is rubbish for running any graphically heavy applications. To solve this problem you need a Graphics card. This needs to be DirectX 9 friendly, it needs to be pretty powerful aswell, as The Sims2 is pretty demanding if you want to play it on any setting apart from the lowest  I would recommend at least an ATI Radeon 9800 (Pro/XT) depending on your cash flow, but i would not recommend you getting a 5 Series Nvidia card as these are not great If you can afford to buy a 6 series Nvidia or a X800XT from ATI then go for that. You will need to have DirectX installed after the card is put in you rig, and you will need the latest drivers for the card (which you will not get from the C.D. as they will be vastly out of date.) I hope this clears your problem up  |
