ahh help

hi i got sims 2 for christmas and i did install directx 9. i guess my dad said that we needed some kind of driver *no idea what he's talking about* installed so he installed it supposidly. but it still won't work!! it gives me these messages "the ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally. save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. the next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to microsoft." i have no clue what the heck they are talking about lol i'm not the computer wiz in the family. but behind that mesage was this one "the graphics adapter in this system experienced an internal error. please contact your graphics adapter to manufacturer for technical support the application will now terminate." and again no idea what the heck there talking about. so heres my information:

name: intel® 82865G Graphics Controller

manufacturer: intel corperation

chip type: intel® 82865G Graphic Controller

but in that first message it says that thingy with ialmrnt5, i found a driver thing right next to the box where i got all that info up there. i'm not sure if you'll need that info but if you do i'll give it to you. i really hope you can help me but my neighbor fixed 2 of my friends sims 2 games so it has to be fixable. i'm not really friends with him so i didn't really wanna ask him but if worst comes to worst i will. thanks for taking time to read this thing lol its pretty long but i hope you can help me. if you would like to email me your post please do! i don't check these things often but send me it in an email and post it too.my email is lilsiskirb@aol.com. oh yeah my computer is only about a year old so i hope i don't need anything new for it!

Tuff luck kid, the game doesn't support on bord graphics nor laptops.

Technicly, it ought to run on your machine.

Try re-installing drivers and direct x 9. If that doesn't help, ask your neighbor. That error-message is pretty random and doesn't say *why* it was caused.

okay so i did the 16 bit color and the -w thing but it still won't work. i didn't uninstall directx 9 because i don't know where to go to do that. i got another message that i was getting before but i had time to copy it down so here is what it says: "your version of DLA can read files but you can't add or edit them." my dad did do something with the DLA file or somethin like changing it. and when sims 2 is loading it will only make is to blurring reality lines so it must be able to work some how. thanks for the other reply.

If your Dad has been assing around with the P.C. and doesn't know what he is doing, then he could have caused any amount of problems when trying to fix something

I would (if you are able, and have all your Original discs etc...) do a Master Reboot. This means wiping your Hardrive and Reformatting it ;)

Before you do this though check this thread. These guys are having the same problem error and it's a simple problem to fix :thumbup:

How much memory do you have and what size CPU do you have?

dogzbollox i don't have the same computer as that person but we are having the same problem. what do you think i'll need like a new sound card or something. i don't really know that much about the insides of the computer but i no a guy who does but he's not the brightest crayon in the box personally i don't think he knows what he's telling me to do but oh well. i hope my problem can be fixed cause i'm dyin to play this game!!

everything revolves around the graphic card. The easiest thing is to buy a new video card or Sims 2 on Playstation 2.
