beneath a steel sky help

I have only been playing BASS for a couple of days. I am at the point where I am supposed to get Joey to talk to the hollogram, but he wont. All I get is "nevermind". I checked a walkthru and it looks like I have done everything else up to this point. Any ideas what might be going on?
