So intel has some "new" socket for there 775 pin CPU but it has a plate over it.....
does anyone knows if that is there pinless socket or are they just doing useless things
putting a plate over the socket?

OMG, you can open it and put a CPU in.
Yes, it's the pinless one.

No AMD for me. A Intel 650 will do, originally i wanted to get a 660 but it wasn#t worth the price.

Well its all down to personal preference, but I don't think many decent gaming rigs actaully cost that much tbh. A decent 64-bit SLI rig, 2 x 512Mb Nvidias, 2GB PC4xxx RAM and some nice RAID and sound options, will not come to that much. That is all that is needed for games. Anything higher than that you will be wasting money, because there is no offical gaming support for anything higher.

I mean sure, you could buy super-duper HI-Definition monitors/screens and full on speaker setups, but that is a different league of consumer and requires $10000s of investment.

It's not my money to beginn with. CM Stacker tower, Intel 650, intel 775 board, western digital raptor 74 gig as bootdisc, maxtor maxline 300gig or 2x200gig seagate as storage disc (originally I wanted to get 6x Western Digital Raptor but that would be to sexy). 2x DDR2-533, TWIN2X1024-4300C3(may change that), and some cooler for the babe, probably the XP120Papscooler. Fortron Source FSP400-60THN-P (PF) 12V ATX 2.0 / PFC / supersilence with 120mm fan.

GraphicCard is gonna be a regular be a sad ass X800XT because he wants to get the new ATi cards at the end of the year...if they come out by then.
Sound is the standart Audigy 2.....

i was thinking to make it 2x maxtor 300Gig as RAID1 and drop the Raptor. It's great to have money that you can spend carelessly
