Ok before I go absolutely apeteahat maybe one of you fine forumites can help. Here is the problem, I ran perfectdist yesterday and let it defrag and optimize, as soon as it was done something very very bad happend. Every shortcut, program in the start menu, and damn near every other file disappered. I dont think it actually erased them but as I still have the same amout of disk space, but, even when I go into program files to hit the exe, it says it is not a valid win application.
Now, this really pisses me of as I have a lot of stuff on my puter. Any ideas here fellows?

HAHAHA, you ran one of those freeware Reg Cleaner didn't ya. it rips out all the regestry and icos. I did that, too, 2 years ago. Have fun reinstalling everything.
but you can always try to set win back to an earlier time.

Actually i don't have the recycler on because i shred all my files.
The reason why I turned sys restore on was becasue i get almost on daily basis someone
who tells me an suposently uber 1337 WinXP MOD or boost trick. 90% of the time they work
without any notacible changes but 10% of them can n00dle your sys. And when they do they
do it right. I just got itchy fingers and have to try them all.
