Kinda cute
But honestly: why would anyone be intrested to play a game as a fat chick....unless she is a valkyr. It's also a technical and tactical thing: with the power of todays comps we can make a char only that fat, say use that many polygone. On the other hand as a fat chcik you get spottet easier and give a buigger target. NOLF 2 had a fat chick in it and noone used her...but that was because she's ugly ![]() |

HAHA nice find Kami  But like you said. If it's a MP game and you are a fat person you are esier to hit and that isn't good! And it demands much hardware to render a big person :P

Pretty nice article that is. Culture critic Susan Faludi actually won the war on beautiful American women, obesity is the number one healthproblem there. They where everywhere when i visited the states. No wonder Americans always claim they are the free nation, they just have to have a lot of room to move around :P
But seriously, she makes a point. This is just another example why there are so few women hardcore gamers. I dont think games are the main reason for a distorted vision of beauty though, Elle, Beaumonde and Cosmopolitan do a much better job at that one. Playboy: The Mansion, The Guy Game, and Singles: Flirt up your Life are ofcourse the best examples of sexual women in videogames but they are also a valid representation of the real world we live in. By that i mean that mags like Playboy and tvshows like Big brother are huge hits. About the functionality of almost nude women in games, well if you put nude women in Bf2 as an experiment frag scores would go down immensly. They are often unnesicary but they sell games as shallow retouched women on the cover of Cosmo sell mags. EDIT: btw, its nice to see a women here. There are so few, welcome!

A very well written article methinks!
Regardless of the fact that many games seem to portray naked and perfectly toned humanoid forms, i would rather control a nice looking avatar rather than an obese fat chick... I mean could you just imagine a 25 stone Lara Croft bending over in those shorts and trying to force her way into a small crack? :dennis:  |

Hey Guys (and gals),
Thanks for the comments on my article. It's so true that everytime I play a character, it's a she (if I have the choice) and she's hot. I certainly don't think video games influence beauty more than magazines, films or any other form of media, but I do think they perpetuate that same idea of beauty-- exotic & extreme, a caricature of the human form, always just-this-side or over-the-line of absurdism. I think this is the case with male characters too. Who wants to play a fat, balding, yellow-toothed middle-aged man while fighting to save the galaxy? If I were a male character, I'd much rather be a Keanu Reeves than a Steve Bushemi (in terms of looks anyway). But, just because a character may not be as endowed as Pamela Anderson, doesn't mean that she's fat. There are a lot of options between those two extremes. Lara Croft didn't have to be a size DD to manuever through tight places. In the film, Angelina Jolie got pads to make her a size C and I think most fans can agree that she looked okay. I think it's interesting that we assume someone's fat if he/she isn't perfect... So, I guess my point is that a character that isn't hyperbolically top-heavy doesn't have to be a fat slob. There's tons of room in between to play with. That being said, thanks for the welcomes, the compliments, and the critiques! |

![]() Unfortunitly there are no such classi kinda games anymore. And why would I wanna play as Keanu Reeves lookalike? I mean, C'mon, that's disgusting. I would like to see a game with Steve Bushemi in it...That dude rox. maybe Steve B. in Max Payne 3? PS: ooooooh, a gal....here.....hmmm.... :francesco: |
