I think it's a sequel to Starlancer which was also a space sim from MS and DA, ain't it? If so, it was in production for about 2-3 years.[/b][/quote]
I don't think it is a sequel in that it picks up the story line, but it is set in the same universe, etc.
Kinda like the free merchant trader version of starlancer.

Don't jump to conclusions until you have seen it. From what I have read/heard, they have a pretty nice and workable mouse keyboard system for doing space flight.
I'm an old hand at flight sims, so playing a game like this with a mouse sounds alien to me, but I'm willing to see what they have to offer before I try to crucify them for heresy

I'm sure the keyboard/mouse setup works just fine. But for those of us who have been around since the days of Wing Commander 1, there is a certain sense that comes with using a flightstick. No matter how flawlessly the controls work, there is going to be the feeling that something is missing.
Don't get me wrong. I'm still eager to get my claws on Freelancer, but you'd think that with the enormous amount of time this game has spent in development they'd find the time to include flightstick support, even if it was just the basics. Hell, even FPS sometimes include joystick support, so there's no excuse for omitting it. Guess there's always hope for it to be included in a patch or something.
