Original BF2 is still superior. (Karkand, Sharkki, Mashturr and Oman)

Of spiders, Dungeons&Dragons and BF2


I dislike spiders to da max. Evidently they have 2 breeding cycles for the climate in which I live. Every spring and fall for about 1.5 weeks the number of spiders I see extends from 1 or 2 a season too 20 in a week. So about 40 spiders were killed in the past 2 weeks. Infestation? No.. one of the screens in the kitchen window was not closed properly and I have not seen one in over a week. I now wait for (their) fall.

I recently began the weekly ritual of being a Dungeon Master for a few friends who wish to play D&D. I stopped after university because I moved a lot and because it no longer interested me; but now I have a small band of heroes who wish to delve into the world I create for fun. Go us! Yes, i'm a geek.. a geek with big arms!

No BF stress, just BF contemplation: Battlefield 2142. The new BF will be out in the Fall and after killing a few spiders I'll probably play that (as well as regular BF2), but is it too soon for another BF2? Most people say yes. EA sais no and gamers are caught in the middle. The first X-Pack (Euro Force) was not worth the 14.99 CND and doesn't seem to be played much. It cannot replace Sharqi or Karkand and leaves much to be desired in the form of strategic play, but 2142 is a new game... or is it? They are using the same engine as BF2. They are using the same play styles except for....Ooo Titan mode.. Oooo destory a base.. (we'll wait and see if that's any good.) So this game is just BF2 with futuristic weapons. Forget the major balancing issues of MECH's, it will be difficult to get a feel for the game because people will not be able to relate to these new weapons. In regular BF2, we use an MP5 and we need to take those extra 1 or 2 shots to kill someone, we know how powerful each weapon is because we have been permiated by them through the interweb and the media (war.) We know an Ak-47 is a really decent and reliable weapon and is balanced accordingly within the game. Maybe people, including myself, want a bit of realism within their scope of fun, without having to go there themselves, and not back to the future.

I'm suprised to be thinking about it. I've had my own run in with suicide, which failed, but it's not the suicide that matters, but the fact that he is dead and will not produce anything any more. [Note: this is not the place to discuss suicide]

When I was 14 my brothers and I were staying over at my Dad's place for Christmas. We were having fun playing Street Fighter 2 and I, as E. Honda was kicking some Ken ass except when this 4-year-old kid took the controls. He beat me every time! A 4-year-old. He was hit by a car a few years later. I never thought about that, but I do think about this Nick guy. Strange. I don't have a blog so I write here. Thanks for listening.
