Thanks for taking a look. If you don't have the time to read this entire post, responding to it would just be a waste of your time and mine.
Looking for a few things: First, my favorite games were the Dino Crisis twins, which I played on Playstation One. I especially liked the camera view, it felt like watching a movie, and you had a perfect way to understand the total situation, since it was THIRD PERSON view. I consider these two games to be "Cinematic Third Person View". The Resident Evil games were okay, but progressed in difficulty to the point in the series that it was not fun to play any more. Next, many years ago I had a game for Sega Genesis called "Beast Wrestler". I loved the theme, but hated the game. The theme was that you had a giant monster (Think King Kong or Godzilla) with special abilities, and you send it into the arena to fight against other monsters. The coolest aspect was that the victor got to drag the corpse of the loser away. Then, the two of them go into a chemical vat, and out pops a new monster, a combination of the skills and flaws of both. This last aspect was the best part of the game. Unfortuantely, actual play was difficult and boring, the interface was deeply flawed. Next, I have always been interested in insects. Do a Google search for "Chitin:I" or "Hellstrom's Hive" or "Armor by John Steakley" (we'll pretend that the moronic Starship Troopers movies never got made). I like insects, and I like competitive evolution. Next, I like robots, especially giant robots. I loved a Playstation 0ne game I had, can't recall the name, very obscure title, allowed you to customize and scavage parts, and had EXCELLENT graphics, and an RTS Cinematic View. REALLY want another game like this one. I have a Windows XP Home PC with a Pentium 4 at 1.5 MHz, a 40 GB hard drive that is totally crammed full, a brand-new GeForce FX 5500 PCI 128 MB DDR video card, and memory is at 768 MB. What I am looking for: PC games that will play on my system specs, with any of the themes mentioned above, preferably RTS, or Cinematic Third Person View. A game review site that will allow me to perform a search based not just on the game type or game title, but upon MY system specs. There is no use looking at a game I can't play on my system. Dream Game would be RTS or Cinematic 3rd Person at no more complexity than Empire Earth, in which various societies competed: Robots that salvaged, Insects that evolved, Some kind of society using Magic, Dinosaurs that evolved. NOTE: I have a game called "Iron Storm". This game does have a Third Person View option, but it is a "chase" option, not a Cinematic View as in Dino Crisis. The difference matters, a LOT. I have seen "Empire of the Ants" reviewed, as well as "Sim Ant", and they both sound like incredible turkeys. I want to play in the game with bugs, not fight bugs in the software. I get the overwhelming impression from the reviews of all the Jurrasic Park games that came out, that they were aimed at little kids, so would really suck to an adult....I am age 43. I LOATHE "Muppet Babies" type graphics, that is "big head / tiny body" style. A great example is the Playstation One Game "Ledgend of Dragoon". The cover shows extremely cool adult anime charachters....inside the game, it is all cartoony muppets. I still own my Plastation One and my Sega Genesis. |
