I'm currently looking for a good space shooter game, but alas, it seems nothing has come out recently. The closest thing resembling a space shooter is X3 and Nexus, but X3 is more about ecnonomy and from what I can see, doesn't exactly fit my desire for a "put you in one ship and control it through the pilots eyes", and Nexus is Real Time Strategy. I'm looking for more of a space combat flight simulator, if you know what I mean. Are there any modern games out there like this?

Earth and Beyond was a good one, but it got shut down. EVE is somewhat of a shooter but it leans towards X3.

Yeah, I was looking at EVE as well, but noticing some of my friends play it, they say it can becoming quite mundane after a while as I saw my friend guide his ship for what seemed like 1 hour through nothing.
MMO is somewhat not what I'm looking for either...lets face it...its more interesting in pre-built scenarios. Looking for something where I have one ship, possibly make upgrades to it, etc, but I'm only looking after me, not looking for an RTS here. Any other ideas? (Thanks for the reply though) =) |

StarLancer. It's old but still a fine piece of space action. Made by the same folks that made WingCommander....thinking of that i believe it's time for getting of the dust of my good ol Amiga

I just remembered this CLICK HERE <--- . feelancer. Not sure if thats what youre looking for , never personaly tried it. Offers a free trial. Earth of Beyond would be the game what you would be looking for, it had upgradable parts, nice missions, cool upgrades that changed looks of your ship. Most new space shooters these days are mmo or lean toward EVE.

In case you didn't know. The intro of FreeLancer is basicly the story of StarLancer...get the hint...Star-Lancer...Free-Lancer...Lancer...yeah, you are sooo smart
