I have played it , i must say it`s very good. They don`t just throw a body at you and expect ot be scared , they make it in style . After playing most of the horror titles like nosferatu,undying,doom, etc.. you kind of expect to get scared so it doesn`t have the same effect , but the scene with ramona`s mother almost made me jump out of my chair. Also when you see the "monster perspective" you don`t actually expect the monster to be there hideing in the shadows... Very scary ,and has the effect it should, it has almost no "dud" scares.
Haven`t finished yet, and the first levels, allthough you just walk around you never get bored. God knows what lies ahead. I would say that it`s a combination of nosferatu and the nightmares in max payne. Based on Lovecraft`s real writings, you actually get interested in the story, wich so far isn`t too revealing or blurry. The attention of details makes all the diference. I stared 2 minutes at a cockroach coming in and out of a woman`s mouth, and if the graphics would have been more real i would have puked.
You have to read a lot, wich is not something i personally like :P but it`s an interesting read that reveals the plot.
The graphics are ok, nothing fancy, nothing slapped-on. Sounds are spooky of course, the wind that sounds like voices is here , but very well recorded, almost like the developers wanted you to decide if they really are voices or it`s just the wind... brilliant...
So if you want a good scare, but not like this: "close your eyes , now open them... Look, a monster just spawned , be scared NOW !" you should try it.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, don't mind the old graphic or simple look. This game will scare the dubenheimer out of ya. while it has been out in germany for about 2 weeks already I didn't get the chance to play it till now. While the screenshots might wanna let you thing it's a horror themed FPS game it's worlds away from that. you hardly even shoot anything. Moytly you run around and for some odd reason getting the chills. You just feel like being in an old movie where you know evil lurkes everywhere but you never see them (well, you do from time to time). This game is more comparable to Silent Hill than ResEvil but then again it's hard to compare those. Anyone remember the 20 bucks game Nosferatu (a FPS game that was flawed on every corner possible)? This is simelar but only doing everything right. i must admit that I have read only 1 book of Lovecraf and didn't like it. maybe it was to old or maybe it was just not my typ of pages to turn, but this game makes me wanna read everything that has to do with Cthulhu. blablabla...blabla...bla. Well, the game changes hands for about 20-30 EURO, depending where you buy it. I wasn't sure if i should get it because of the screenshots i saw and the old gameplay videos, but i waited for so long back then for this game and ~25€ is more than a fair price. In fact, now i would even pay 50 bucks for this game like any other decent full price title.

So, what did i try to tell ya...?...I guess if you like horror themed games ala res evil or SH but need something new then this is your game. In fact just buy it. Even if you don't like this kinda game just go out and put down some beens for it. That way I might get another CoC game.
