Several members of the podcast crew are playing the Hero Online closed beta. Has anyone else here tried it? I'd like to hear your opinions.
From what I've seen so far, the UI needs a good bit of work and the gameplay (questing specifically) isn't intuitive for newcomers. The visuals are very well done and the fighting styles are excellent. I reserve judgement on the game's quests until I see some higher level content (my level is 1Dan 1Kyu) but early on, they seem to be collection/grind/kill quests. More commentary to come as we make more progress.

Yes, quests aren't intuitive or more like the quest interface. I'm so used to being able to click on quest name to get details. Not clicking a "Detail" button, I can barely see it too since its quite small. There are too few quests as always in korean/asian games. Half a level has to be grinded and if you are lucky you get a quest when you level. Even if the quest is about grinding mobs, it's better to have a quest for the mobs than just grinding those mobs with no end in sight.
I also feel that the male/female/rod/sword etc requirements on gear limits a lot of creativity and customization of my char. Warriors can use sword and bow, females only can fight with fists if I'm not mistaken etc. Why can't males use fists? We are famous for it thru out history =) I wouldn't pay for the game if that is the intention.
