What is some good free software .. or software in general tha twill allow me to me an exact copy of a hard drive, windows and everything.....so if i made a copy of a disk they would both boot identically.. tx guys
also both are internal hard drives, and there both in the machine, but one was just formatted |

Well, i hate norton.. .lol... see my parents have an old 40gb, 5400 rpm hd i got an 80gb 7200 rpm hd that i am giving them.. thats my situation.. ima take the 40 out as soon as i get it copied.... would just draggin the entire c:\ dir over to the new drive cut it?

I agree, Norton Ghost is the best, u have to make sure, u only got a pure system in your C disk anyway...u can't backup all your program and online-games all together, it will take huge space anyway..... no software could help u , if you do that

Be wary of cloning disks, because if you run 2 identical operating systems on 2 different PC's Microsoft will screw over your Windows Genuine Validation certificate and nullify both your operating systems.
If you intend to use it as a backup, then I would suggest you backup your files and not the drive in its entirity. Create a backup schedule so once a month you have a full backup and once a week to do an incremental. All the tools to do this are FREE and are included in System Tools within Start | Programs | Accessories on most Windows Operating Systems. |

I got a bootable USB stick with WinXP on it. I never had to use it but I heard they are rippin since you don't have to install win anymore. Just plug it in and start up your PC
