Windows Vista

Looking at trying the Beta version of Vist. Has anyone tried it yet? Heard that the full version is due to be released Dec 06, yet i dont think there is an official date (and if there is i apologise for being a noob). From what i read, it sounds to be a bit of a memory hog and about 10Gb + . Well not sure if there has been a post in the past about his so i decided to bring it up

I tried it about 2 or 3 months ago but made the mistake of not dual booting. If you do try it, I reallllllly reccomend the dual boot as Vista is not compatible with a lot of hardware and drivers still. It looks pretty and is easy to use but with the lack of compatability, ya might wanna hold of on trying it for now. On the other hand, if ya have the time and just want to get a feel for it, I say give it a go just dont expect to be doing a lot

you don't need any spyware remover on viesta either. In fact viesta ist a big DRM with an OS pasted on

First I tried the LonghornVista Beta transformation pack that really looked cool and all.
Then I installed the beta of Vista and yeah its true most hardware and software devices could not identifi the operating system and only a couple of games worked on it. Mainly games that don't give a jack about OS and the most recent games worked on Vista.

Sure I'm going to buy my Vista in Dec. (or whenever the premier will be) but I'm going to install it when more games come out with Vista compatability. So hey you can try it out but XP will have to do for a while longer.

Windows Vista Pro Corporate Edition will be released in December, all home versions in January 2007. I have this from my contact at Microsoft.

Requirements for Pro version as recommended by same friend are all P4-AMD Athlon 2.0GHz +, 1GB RAM, 256Mb DirectX9.0 GPU/VPU and at least 9GB free for OS, Office and SwapFile.

I tried that BETA on my machine and its seriously full up with unoptimised and unfinalised software and services and its toll on your current specifcation is not indicative of the final optimised build.

... However upon a recent visit to Microsoft UK (1 mile from my work!) I have seen a late build of it running on a medium spec Dell Latitude notebook and it had the latest build of the following running really smoothly:
Aero (Hardware accelerated GUI)
Media player 11
Office 2007
Internet Explorer 7.0
Microsoft Virtual Server

Very amazing GUI btw, with live previews on the taskbar and in application switch mode!

Beta didnt run well for me but sure did look cool, got the WMC to work with my 360 and that was sorta cool

another new windows OS?

i just got XP installed this year.

arrrrugh!! new gomes are gonna come out requireing that new os and i don't feel like walking to the store and buying another multihundred dollar os.
