GTR2 demo seems to be available at download.com woo! - http://www.download.com/GTR-2-Demo/3000-75...ml?tag=pdp_prod

Well, d/l speeds are slow (~20kbps) so hopefully GH will get it soon! (EDIT: Didn't doubt you guys for a minute, hehe. :P http://www.gamershell.com/news/31545.html)

More good news is, I heard over at bhmotorsports that 10tacle were dropping Starforce for the demo and the full game, hooray! But now they're using 'SecurRom' instead, made by Sony. Some people say it's better, but I guess we'll see!

lol lol uber simulation is coming, all servers right here on gamershell are busy...not full but hey better then the 20kb/sec from gamespot.....

Love simulation and racing so GTR2 will be kicking ass, however i made a choice a while back not to upgrade my shi**y 5900xt msi card, i wanna play the demo as good as possibile but i know ill be missing a lot of xtra's.... not upgrading my GFX made me buy a xbox360 and here we go, i thought i did read something like it was coming out on the 360 also..... cant find the info tho...

cheers m8

Heh, yea the 360 version is the old GTR, just with all the new cars and tracks added on. Probably wont come out until next year, but the 360 wheel looks pretty useless anyway. :bucky!: But you'll be glad Oban 'cos everything seems to run much smoother in this demo!

After finding sim mode and 3d wheels in the options, I've been flying around a couple of 5 lap sprints with the AI in the Ferrari 575, and I love it! You get the Ferrari and Lambo Murcielago, Barcelona for the track, and Race Weekend and Time Trial modes. The front end menus are so nice! And everything loads incredibly quickly.
It's much easier to find your way around, and everything seems a bit more polished, which should attract people who haven't played GTR before too.

They've improved on a lot of the key elements, like the low speed and tire slip physics. And general race atmosphere is better. I like the pit stops. The game runs so smoothly with maxed out settings its awesome. Runs much smoother than GTL.

Ok well, I'm gonna dive back in, and check out some wet races to see how the frame rate holds up. B)

EDIT: well all i can say is the frame rate didn't hold up but it was still playable, and the rain effects are so cool. The reflections are nice, and the rain seems to look and sound as though it comes down harder the faster you drive, which is great attention to detail. Love it!

i assume u play with a steering wheel instead a joystick or keyboard?

the controls suck here and it doesnt feel realistic at all when the car has its turning circle in middle..

i love the car sounds!! 1 of the best ever... it looks like they used the engine from the free game thast was downloadable here, ie: same graphics, same controls feeling and reaction, same amount of settings!,and exacly same sound quality.

I,m suspicious hehe

the 1st time i quit the game my pc rebooted...

now it starts up to menu and crashes

i think i need a logitech wheel

i used to have the Logitech MOMO FFW but it's broken for the third & last time (i'm sick of taking it back to the store to get a replacement)...it's a very poor/cheap build quality on the Logitech Wheel (i am always very careful with my usage... yet still the left gear paddle stopped working (it's just like the buttons you get in "Mice" , then the Steering would not align properly for more than 3 min (or a lap of Spa in GTR) , & last but not least the Accelerator & Brake Pedals started to fail (more very cheap buttons) this all happened in the space of one year & each time i took it back to the store they would replace it with a new one )... im guessing i'm not alone.
Anyway
now i use my Thrustmaster joystick (with throttle control) & find it quite fine... you would & should find it near impossible to play this game with the keyboard :P

No crashes or *errors to be found in GTR 2 on my old system

XP2800+
SATA
1Gig DDR400
6600GT
Sound Blaster Audigy 2

(1280x1024@85htz with settings on high)

(* i did find the shadows on some cars would disappear though & the rain comes in above the windscreen)

it's much more stable w/o Starforce imo & the loading times are brilliant...
i'll be buying it ... when it reaches Australia (hopefully at the same time as everywhere else in the World :yeahright

Yea keyboard sucks for GTR, you really need a wheel. I'm using the Driving Force Pro (GT4 PS2 wheel) at the minute since my MOMO kept breaking too(!), but I'm considering the Logi G25 when that comes out.

Btw, which free game were you talking about GT? rFactor? (They're based on similar engines!)
