I was watching Click last night.
What was said is that MS is now opening up Vista to 3rd party anti-virus/spyware programs (like Norton and McAffee). MS will also be selling its own anti-spyware/virus product but it will be sold seperately, not bundled with the OS.

This was juat posted here:
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_...pic_id=25125490 As we all know, millions of people every day illegally download music, movies, and games. Microsoft's upcoming operating system, Vista, will have DRM features as follows: Microsoft is introducing a number of Digital Rights Management and content-protection features in Windows Vista, to help digital content providers, corporations, and end-users protect their data from being copied. * PUMA: Protected User Mode Audio (PUMA) is the new User Mode Audio (UMA) audio stack. Its aim is to provide an environment for audio playback that restricts the copying of copyrighted audio, and restricts the enabled audio outputs to those allowed by the publisher of the protected content[16]. * Protected Video Path - Output Protection Management (PVP-OPM) is a technology that prevents copying of protected digital video streams, or their display on video devices that lack equivalent copy protection (typically HDCP). Microsoft claims that without these restrictions the content industry may prevent PCs from playing copyrighted content by refusing to issue license keys for the encryption used by HD DVD, Blu-Ray Disc, or other copy-protected systems[16]. * Protected Video Path - User-Accessible Bus (PVP-UAB) is similar to PVP-OPM, except that it applies encryption of protected content over the PCI Express bus. * Rights Management Services (RMS) support, a technology that will allow corporations to apply DRM-like restrictions to corporate documents, email, and intranets to protect them from being copied, printed, or even opened by people not authorized to do so. MSN Spaces will also offer an open RMS server that home users and smaller businesses can use to extend this ability to their own documents.[citation needed] When people hear that they won't be able to get stuff for free and they'll actually have to...to....SUPPORT the industry they love, they probably won't want to get an OS that prevents piracy. Thoughts?

Seeing how Vista will become the leading OS, there will probably be a modded release soon. A huge percentage of the hackers around the globe will dive right into Vista and crack it soon after release. Only gay people at Gamespot are dumb enough to not realize that, some background checking could have saved them the effort of posting that at all.
Edit: I did some backgroundchecks and it's been done already with the final release of Vista, and no, I am not talking about the final beta that just came out but final retail. On a good note, MS still hasn't allowed SF to install ring 0 drivers on their system. SF as the manipulative, lying company they are ofcourse claim they do have permission ![]()

Nah, I'll get the legit version as updates are really important. Probably won't get it till most launch bugs are out though, 4-5 months after first launch probably unless I'll get a dx10 card before that
Taking the risk of installing a hacked version sure leaves the risk of a clever hacker leaving a back door open but that risk is still much smaller then encountering problems with SF.Link is simply the SF homepage, they're claiming on releasing a full update so games work on Vista soon. We both know that means installing ring 0 drivers as it's the backbone of that cp.
