Well, lemme tell you a story.

So erm, me pretty pissed off. finally downloaded the demo after being very tired of ranting at EA for its noob support. So, installed and stuff. well, started the darn thing, picked a server (interface greatly improved, in BF2 this was one helluva pain in the ass). and waited 10 minutes for the shaders to adapt (damn that option). started playing. picked a spawnpoint.

BF2142 has encountered a problem and needs to close.

*head pops*

so me trying to find a solution.
Solution no #1: Turn of EAX.
no worky.
Solution No #2: Turn off Voip.
nope.
Solution No #3: do this an that.
yeah right.

searched on a forum: - 'Hey, the readme has some nice infoes in it about CTD's!

yesss, methinks, uninstalling that damn update and its fixed!

so there we go. add/remove programs: show updates. Delete update Kb917422. *pop up* Warning warning! *insert siren here* >> 'The follwing programs might not work properly when uninstalling this update: (*insert EVERY fokkin program here*) <<

STOP :c0000269 [llegal system dll relocation] the system dll kernel32.dll was relocated in memory. the application will not run. the relocation occurred because the dll c:\windows\system32\gdi32.dll occupied an address range reserve for windows system dlls. the vendor supplying the dll should be %s %s

every boot ended in this.

well, to cut it, i tried EVERYTHING. Repair console. fixmbr. fixboot. Copy C:\windows\system32\gdi32.dll , you name it. nothink.

fresh install. lost all 'my document' files, but didn't format. i refused to, in any case. finally fixed the darn thing and installed everything again (for some reason it doesn't recognise my old installs)

well, Bf2142 obviously worked now. in service pack 1 that is. played for 3 hours.

i hate to say it.
but it was fun. damn fun. dammit.
No lag, awesome gameplay, no hangups, no CTDs'. yeah. like. now. great.

so i updated everything, SP2 INCLUDING the KB917422 update. lets get to the bottom of this, i thought.
i ran BF2142. no hangups. no nothing, pure and fun gameplay.

THATS RICH.

HOWEVER.
i found a fix anyways.
yes me did.

*drumroll*
Microshit issued a hotfix for KB917422, because it meddled to much with stuff. one catch though. you need to contact microsoft for the link, because its not public.
oh no no no, i thinks. me google you teehee. *googles hotfix KB924867*

myes, its german. but this thing here is able to update your entire sp2 servicepack with them hotfixes without windows update. neat, huh. guess what. it has hotfix kb924867. wewt.

so, when this friggin error comes up again, 'm gunna smash its mofo head in with this hotfix. oh yes i will.

about BF2142. finally.

liked the gameplay. has neat sounds and titan is interesting. too bad i can't costumize (anyone tried this too while a squadleader? you gets upgrades too, mhkay.)
and most of all, no lag. none. zero. nada. stuttering? nope.

i just wished bf2 had this kind of gameplay. god, then i would've never stopped playing.

We need to find a server we can all join. Or someone who has a faster connection than me, set up a server. I can only have 3 ppl on before lag sets in.

I might join if it happens pretty soon.. Timezones and all

Some of us are going to play today. Maqus wants to play so, we are waiting for him. If there are ppl that wish to battle me that can not wait til M is back. Pick a server and post it here. I will gladly play

Hmm I don't know what to think now. I disabled all sound and ran into a freeze once now. :rant:

Support will probably try to say it's my fault or something even though I don't have problems with any other game that I have. I'll see what they have to say this time as I was able to upload a crash dump file to their support board.

The motherboard is a leadtek nforce3 with integrated ALC-658 sound.
I'm beginning to think it has nothing to do with the sound, but what could it be?
