Windows Vista Upgrade

Now please don't shoot me down in flames for suggesting this but, sooner or later (once they fix the initial bugs!) I am going to buy Windows Vista. I was wondering if a pre-installed version of windows XP (from an OEM) counts as being eligible for an upgrade?

If it is and I then decide to reinstall Vista, will the upgrade edition allow me to do a clean install (ie format and start again)

Yes, the pre-installed (OEM) can be upgraded. If vista installs anything like xp does, it should give you an option before you actually install.

In any viewpoint butting a spyware to check pirated software creates multiple problems by it self.
Secondarily this would great overall higher interest in open-source OS development.
Now when these growing communities are invoked and provoked enough what would stop them from ripping everything they want out of Vista and then inputting it into their own OS! “DirectX10”

We can always talk like that everyone will take linux because of vista.
WRONG.
I complain, but it won't stop me from buying vista, why?
I'm curious
I want to game properly
If i want linux so badly i'd dualboot it(as i'm doing right now).
We can't go around that Vista will sell, it's good enough for people that do normal stuff on a pc, and play a game.
Not for people that want to rewrite and recompile teh kernel.
