Peter Moore Leaves MS

After four years with Microsoft, Peter Moore has left to become the president of EA's sports division. Don Mattrick, former president of EA, will take over for Peter! Feel free to share your thoughts.

My thoughts? I'll tell you my thoughts! Microsoft has just lost their last straw in the fight against the competition. Everyone knows I despise the 360 for it's cheap design and letting people pay for playing online. Peter Moore however always seemed like a decent chap who looked like he meant the best for all gamers, loosing him makes Ms lose their last friendly face and all they can do now is look at the scratched up surface of what once promised to be a bright future for a potentially great console.

I hope Peter will enjoy his new job at EA and will finally get to play on his Wii, pc and PS3 without having to hide his excitement for those platforms. Ea seemed to be profound when they said they wanted to focus on more quality instead of quantity games and I hope Moore can improve those figures even more.

Well said Gazz. I've got the same impression from this as well. I think that MS has just lost a very valuable resource and an influential guy that was a recognizable and likable face to gamers. I think it's a big hurt to MS but EA is certianly stepping up their games. I'm hoping he'll stop them from being complacent atop the sports gaming world and force them to really improve their games from year to year.

Ummm... Yeah thats why there are still more 360's in the World then PS3s...

One person, who worked in PR does not maketh a console. Microsoft can afford to lose money left, right and centre, so its equally true for its personnel. They could hire a few guys that have been sacked/made redundant from AMD!... they probably worked on the 360 development anywho. Then again why would you want people who couldn't solder a joint or put thermalpaste under a cooler working for you?

Peter Moore lost Sega the console war because of bad PR, Peter Moore has left Microsoft because of bad PR, Peter Moore is joining EA because of bad PR...

... I feel really sorry for EA right now!

That's because the 360 got released earlier, if you look at sales in the same timespan Sony is ahead. Peter Moore was the face of the console since day one and you can't simply replace a figure that has gained trust and familiarity amongst the gamers crowd and expect things to continue as they were.

It's pretty easy to just blame AMD as the ones responsible for the errors that the 360 produces, but AMD isn't the one making the final product and approving the final concept before getting it into production. Microsoft is completely responsible for the design and has the final word in every aspect of their console. Jumping on the bandwagon shouting it was just AMD is pure nonsense, just means you got infected by Peter Moore's bad pr that his staff spreads around the net under tons of aliases to cover up a faulty product called Xbox 360.
