A Question

I have a problem. My problem is no matter what I do in the forums, whether it be getting contests or trying to be nice to everyone in the forums or getting devs in here to talk to you. Nothing seems to work! So, I am not only asking you, I am begging you to tell me what I need to do to get people to stay and talk in the forums.

I want this place to be exciting and a place where everyone wants to chat and I am at a loss as to what to do! So, if everyone could enlighten me as to what the problem is, I may be able to fix it!

If it wasn't for you the forums wouldnt even have existed anymore.

The few points that make the forums less interesting are more laid in to other hands.

- The forums are soo slow, hell sometimes the page doesn't even load due to disconnects.
- The forums are old and ugly, we never see something new on it, how long has this design been living, 4 years now?
- I don't even see a logo anymore, but i do see a stupid flash advert of some uninteresting game.

- If i never knew of the forums, how big would the chance be of me finding out by just downloading demo's, all the site has are a little forum text to click on and a newest topics block nicely tucked away for most people not even to notice.

Well forums always seem to be slow during the Summer
months. People always seem to want to go to the Beach
or the Mountains or Disneyland. Damn People and there
wants.
Actually I though you were doing a fine job for the circumstances.
GamersHell is alot busier than HWHell or VW.
But I have to agree with Magus. The site needs a new and
improved look. Maybe you could utilize GM2 for some new
graphics. And if you wanted the site to sort of match up with
the layout of HWHell you could always ask krimson, Bionic,
Jager or Soultrape for some help.
And I like to visit http://www.guru3d.com to download utilities
and such. They have a Big Forum present and I always see
the GamersHell logo on pic's when new demo's and games
come out. Maybe if you visited there every so often you could
drum up some new members. I always mention HWHell and
GamersHell when the opportunity arises, but I'm just a lowly
forum moderator. Your the Big Chief, they would be an Excellant
Affiliate and maybe they'll let you post some of your contests.

Guru3d is great, I go there from time to time too. However, I doubt that having anyone from GH register and advertise there is going to make a difference. Affiliate is one thing, I am really positive about that and you should absolutely do that but having an admin go on their forum and post about how cool gh is, is pretty much the lamest you can do.

There is a great looking black skin for gh already and it´s been here for ages. The one who made it has just never come around to making the needed adjustments. In fact, the skin has been around for so long that one of the tabs even says Revolution (Yes, Nintendo Revolution, what's now known as Wii).

These forums have been about a small group of people from day one, we do get enough people registering here but they don´t ever stick around long enough. I even wonder how long the people who are posting for the Wii now are going to stick around. I guess they will dissapear after the contest ends.

I am not going in there just to say how cool GH is as that would be lame and I would most likely be labeled a retard really quick. I just don't see how it could hurt though as you never know who you might meet!

NXS, Your work here continues to be amazing and I don't think you could do any more than you have done. Something is wrong with the decision making at a higher level than yourself. A decision needs to be approved so we can build a team of people with permissions to alter the forum without having to rely on the current lot, who obviously have commitments elsewhere on the hell network.

The forum needs to mordernised in quite a few ways, such as:

1). Shoutbox and GH Game Arcade. Make GH Forums feel like they belong to a Gaming site.
2). Rep/Kudos points system. Make posting seem worthwhile.
3). New skin. Feels to much like IPB from years ago.
4). Search feature that works (Or am I the only one?).
5). News items from the CMS linked into the forum for discussion, Not having comments as a seperate entity for every news entry.

I have said this before on many an occasion, but it always seems to fall on deaf ears. Lets see what happens this time.
