Bungie and MS split!

It's official, Bungie and MS have gone seperate ways. I certainly didn't expect that, especially on the heels of Halo3 raking in $300 Mill in its first week.

I wonder if that means that the PS3 will some day see Halo (God knows they need something for that system)?

That's hugely important developer number 2 who left in a single week. First they lose the developer of project gotham racing which have gone to Activision and now they lose their biggest fish. They seem to be losing their developers faster these days then their consoles overheat The rats are leaving the sinking ship.

The reason they left was because of some royalty issues,they have been unclear about the exact cause of why the royalties weren't that good. 300 million of course is a figure that says nothing. You need to subtract manufacturing, packaging, shipping, retail taxes, retailer margins, how many of those halos included consoles since they made a loss on those packages and most importantly, their massive 100 million dollar marketing blitz. I doubt that the 300 million figure actually means they have a lot of money in the end. They will make some for sure, but never enough and they already disappointed their shareholders by not reaching 200 million in the first weekend.

MS will still hold the name Halo and if Bungie decides to make another Halo based game it will be 360 exclusive.

They spent $10mil marketing, 1/10 of your figure. They are making a boatload of money on Halo 3, and investors being 'disapointed' at the largest 1 day entertainment release in history is about as laughable as it gets.

I guess this isn't too troubling to me, I use a 360 as my main console and any future games Bungie releases will still almost definatley be released on it. In fact, we may even see some originality now that they don't have the big company over the shoulder discouraging anything potentially non-money making.

It seems quite the opposite there Bucky, you can't seem to make a topic without bashing the PS3. Every discussion about consoles involves you bashing the PS3 with bad data and me giving the correct ones. Go back to your fantasy world of wow and imagine you are right there instead of mocking people with the name of a disease that's probably killed people in your family too. I remember a Bucky a long time before he left the forums, he was well mannered, showed great knowledge and kindness. The person who came back can't even stand in that guys shadow. I haven't even said a word about Sony, even ignored it because I didn't want to get into it. You brought it up in your all of your posts, get a grip on reality, you are the lighter of the Gazz, not me.

Edit: Bucky, Cancer is way out of line for me, I haven't even lowered myself to using that word in the starfroce discussion and that got way hotter then this will ever do. We really need to get on MSn or whatever and resolve our differences one day.

Absolutely, Bungie have been able to explore the architecture of the 360 and it would be a shame to waste that. Most likely they will be releasing for pc aswell. A Wii game might be an option too, and of course there were the Halo DS screens that leaked onto the net a few days ago.Linky.

This sounds good to me. Halo has always been a 2nd tier PC Game.
Maybe Bungie will come out with a new MDK game for the PC. I luv'ed
the original, it was a blast.
