Here is a quote extracted from the 3DREALMS forums.

Quote:
Hello,

I appreciate the comments about my GD column, it's always good to find people that have enjoyed it.

It's great to be here in the US, seeing the sun, benefitting from all the cheap fuel. To answer a few questions: I am doing general art- nothing specific, I am not the aforementioned animator, my hair is blue and green at present, I will be finishing the Artist's View column some time this year, I haven't decided when yet, but I am running short on free time unfortunately.

Thanks for the support and as a new guy on the inside all I will say is: I have seen the future, and its name is NUKEM.
Hayden Duvall has many articles like "Creating Creatures" , "From Source to Texture" at Game developer.

here is the latest pic of him.

I'm not sure if this topic is a wry attempt at sarcasm, or a clever attempt at padding. Either way, why anyone should care about this guy joining 3DR is beyond me. Much like why anyone would want to color their hair green/blue....

I thought you had been around here longer than to wonder about that.

What you have to realize is that irs does a google seach on Duke Nukem Forever every 10-15 minutes, and makes sure that we know about every new hit that he gets, no matter how trivial.

Personally, I think that if they are hiring new artists to work on DNF, then the project is either seriously in trouble, or is actually in the early stages.

I know all too well that irs is a DNF fanboy, and that he goes out of his way to keep us informed about every little development(whether we want to know or not). It's just that he seems to have stooped to a new level with this topic. Hayden's quote in his post is the very epitome of someone typing something just to fill a space. And why did he post the picture of the guy? No, nevermind, i don't think i want to know the answer to that one. :dennis:

But you're right, the artwork for DNF should have been done a looong time ago, so this is definitely NOT a good sign. Hell, anyone who spends 5+ years developing a game using someone else's engine is either incompetent, or suffering from a terminal case of developer''s block.

If you substitue the first "you" with "i" then that line makes more sense.

Yes, i agree totally here. If you don't know every little rinky dink artist from the sticks then you don't know ANYTHING about gaming. Especially if said artist has blue/green hair and is working on DNF.

No, we don't. In fact, we probably confuse the living daylights out of you. But reading your replies, THAT is what really entertains us, so keep THAT up!

From the Codex Of Ultimate Wit, page 1836, paragraph 7, subsection 24, rule#194824: "The reversal of a statement that works against the original poster cannot be reversed against the attacker. The reply must be orginial and unique. The penalty for failing to observe this rule is a 10%(ten percent) loss of status, and general sign of ineptitude on the part of the original poster. Repeat offenders must be reported to the guild for blacklisting as "flame bait".

DNF has already brought me the WoW factor. The "WOW, this game is taking FOREVER to finish!". To be blunt, 3DR is nothing more than a bunch of washed up losers clinging to some shred of their long lost fame. Sure, they used to be someone in the developer's arena. They were the creators of cool games like Duke Nukem3D and Shadow Warrior! Now, look at them. Toting a game that was announced some 5-6 YEARS ago as the holy grail. It's pathetic. Before you spew out one of your trademark "quality vs quantity" replies, let me remind you that other developers have released games that included both quality AND quantity long AFTER DNF's announcement. And that includes your precious Half-Life. Hell, even Valve looks set to release HL2 before DNF. And what is 3DR doing? Still "laboring" away on DNF. You know why they're not going to E3 this year? Because they have nothing new to show. Well, except some old screenshots from some previous build that pales compared to Unreal2. If those spineless worms had any backbone they'd fess up and call it quits, like they did with Prey, instead of shambling on like some zombie, completely unaware that they're dead, and have been for a long time. Kind of like what you're doing right now.

Another trademark irs2k3 reply. If you're going to keep using the word "irrelevent", the least you can do is learn how to spell it correctly. I'll give you the first clue, you need to exchange an "e" with an "a". Now see if you can't finish this puzzle.

Dont assume too much cuz you dont know what you are talking about ? .

Yes they are late, they did mistakes by showing the game too early, they learned from there mistakes and they are trying to make DNF as near perfect as possible.
The dev time dont represent a " WoW Factor" element , its just a time frame that can be extented many times through the dev cycle.
You always built your sentences on assumption, this is really annoying!!!!!

:Oo:

Irrelevent is just irrelevant? ;)

Good Luck for next time cuz you will need it
