I am really looking forward to the new game and hopefully the game will be as ground breaking as it was before in 1998 it will make all other games just go :blow:

ATI tech?...I think not. There's even rumours about HL2 working ONLY on Geforce cards, no Radeons. (That may or may not be true)

Also, there was one post where someone played some version of HL2 and said that on a 1.6ghz pIV and a GF 4 Ti 4200 they were seeing frame rates of around 70, which, if you ask me, is crazy. They also mentionned individual hairs for monsters and such (not just textures, but like the NVIDIA Wolfman or the ATI monkey). They also said it would be better than SOF2...Like if you cut a monster with a knife, you'll see his skin split apart and see his lungs and shit inside.

I dunno if all that is true (I can't find the damned link...though I know I got to that page off some hardware site, like hardocp or anandtech), but anyway all that running at 70fps on an average system...I don't really see how it could be true...Anyway, only time will tell...And no matter how fast or slow it'll run, the game should still be amazing (hopefully as amazing as the original HL was).

There will be a gameplay footage at E3 this year, thats for sure.

Could be my eyes but the shadow doesn't appear to display the weapon he's holding. And the muzzle flash doesn't have an effect on the shadow either. They better fine tune those points if they want to compete with Doom3 on the graphics level.

Yes, there appears to be no weopon in that shadow, and the muzzle flash indeed does not change the light balence in the surrounding area, i am 100% sure that they will change this :bangin:

Fur rendering can be done by using vertex shaders, so that's do-able. I seriously doubt that skin/gut thing though, because you'd probably have to use some techniques that are just too expensive to render, if possible. I'm sure half-life 2 will be a pretty game, but Valve have said that it won't be entirely as pretty as doom 3, so I don't think it's realistic to speculate that it'll be equivalent of Doom 5
