What is the best gaming OS? - Page 3

I'd say DOS 6.0 WAS the best gaming OS. Sure, it took awhile to get comfortable with the config.sys and autoexec.bat, but once you optimized those, it was smooth sailing. Once you deleted a game, it was gone, no little leftovers hiding in some obscure system folder. Any crashes could be directly blamed on the game. Ah, those were days....... :francesco:

If you're not into retro gaming, WinXP is the best OS these days. Stable, user friendly and wizards for everything. I'll never forget how disappointed i was, when i discovered my hard earned knowledge of how to set up a network was rendered obsolete with WinXP.

A question for a WIN2k user:- Does it have a large driver database like XP, where it immediatly installs drivers for you for i.e. graf cards etc?

It does have an extensive driver database, just not as extensive at XP, which isn't exactly a surprise since XP is a more recent OS.
