360 goes multimedia too

After the sudden death of HD dvd Microsoft now announced it will be focusing on downloads from now on. Sure MS has mentioned time after time that they were all about gaming and they didn't want to be the multimedia device that the PS3 was, but they lied once again to it's faithful customers. So far they have made deals with Disney, MGM and ABC. Too bad MS always said that the 360 isn't really meant for multimedia and a huge part of ther 360's don't even have a hard drive to store content on. Read on.

In more interesting news, the PS3 just signed a deal with DIVX and will now release all of it's movies in that format for cheap

Read on.. I looked for some Wii multimedia info but they seem to keep their word and not do that.

People always forget I also like other consoles and the PC so I adjusted my signature. I love Nintendo for example.

I just want MS to leave the market so games can be released on both PS and PC like in the good old days before they were forced to make games console exclusives. MS also needs to focus on it's core business of making operating systems as they are really letting the ball drop there. Linux and even Leopard are making huge advances and MS made a step back with Vista.

HAHAHAHAHAHA 360 & Downloads can't be said in the same sentence by any gamer with half an idea, just look at Forza -2.. I finished the game twice over before the first pack was released

Nothing shits me more than buying a pricey game (under the impression) that there will be DL content within a reasonable time frame (lets say one month) & that it will be free seeing as you forked out a percentage of your pay check to buy the console, then you dig a bit deeper to buy the games, then a bit more to play online, then they think that your pockets are never ending & are willing stay that way for as long as "they" decide :rant:

Care to elaborate on this lie? Please include actual quotes and not just PS3 fanboy hyperbole.
Microsoft has always said the 360 was about games, they didn't try to use the 360 as a trojan horse into a totally different market unlike Sony with BluRay.
Sony has used it's loyal customers by forcing BD down their throats when it isn't needed in hopes to control a movie format. That is about as underhanded as it gets when you want to talk about dirty tactics.

With media center the 360 still walks circles around what Sony is offering, no question, and at least customers are given a choice, games machine or media machine or both, and customers have voted and continue to vote that way.

It's true, I was forced by Sony to buy a PS3 with Blu-ray. They came to my house and threatened me that if I didn't get the PS3, I'd spend the rest of my life having to explain to 12 year olds on Xcocx live that Halo really is nothing more then a mediocre shooter. The same happened with my PC, a guy from IBM visited and told me that if I didn't get a dvd player I'd be stuck playing commander keen for the rest of my life since that game fitted on a floppydisk. I was ok with that and still enjoy that game

So the PS3 that was marketed as a multimedia console from the beginning actually has multimedia options? I am shocked and outraged and Sony should pay for this. How dare they give us what they advertised with from the beginning. When I noticed that it could play Blu-ray movies and provide more space for uncompressed movies and music I was outraged. How dare they offer me the quality they promised me, with the great onboard music card that easily equals the quality of my beloved X-fi card I expect the ingame sounds to be compressed to no more then 100 kb. I want everything to fit on a single dvd and quality loss is besides the point.

I have been pressured to put games on my HD by Sony. Sure numerous tests have proven no significant difference between loading times on the 360 or PS3, but when they asked me if I wanted to install Uncharted on my HD they left me no choice when they asked me: Yes or no? and gave me 2 buttons to select. I felt anally raped by them.

I must admit I never saw this coming. I remember getting on of the first PS2's back in 2000 and that had something called dvd. Sony did say something about that console being able to play those types of movies back then but I never heard anything from that medium anymore. I guess it had to much space to fill and the cd's we had then were sufficient.

They did force you because you're given no option. What if I don't want a machine to watch movies, just play games.. sorry I need to buy a PoS3 with a BD drive because there is no choice. Even worse, with no choice on ways to save money I have to buy a machine that has what? 4, 5 games worth buying and the highest rated game on the box is a 3rd party game developed on the 360 first?!

I feel sorry for you, you're so blind with your PS3 sony devotion that you can't see they're trying to take over another market and using you to do so. They don't give a damn if you want to play games, heck, they said it themselves "We don't need any games and people will buy the thing". But as usual sheep like yourself follow their master like good little slaves and don't question the motives that Sony has and if those choices are good for gamers.

Sorry but most games ARE slower, if they're not installed on the drive. This is a fact that BD drives are slower for loading. Why do you think that Resistance repeats the data numerous times on that BD disk? To improve load times because the drive is too slow.

But then I guess you're so blind that you're happy installing everything on your HD and wasting time doing that as well.
