I'm curious because I just became one and its much different looking from the outside in (not being a parent) to looking from the inside out (being a parent).

Yes Caveman, I am a parent. I have one turning 18 in March and one turning 19 in April. There are several factors that determine how crazy your children are. The first is PARENTING, then there is peer groups (to which parenting can fix), Genetics (this we can do nothing about) and certain physical injuries (normally head injuries.

Both my boys have their issues. My youngest is very hyperactive and has oppositional defiance disorder and impulse control disorder (which means, if it goes across his mind, he is likely to say it or do it!). The latter two are from a head injury when he was 5. He was ran over by a pizza delivery driver in a parking lot. When I say ran over I pretty much mean it. When I got to the scene, he was about 3 feet under the car!

My oldest was diagnosed several years ago with Schizo-affective Disorder. This means that he has Schizophrenic tendencies and symptoms. He is just too young to come to a full diagnosis of Schizophrenia. Usually one is diagnosed Schizophrenic after they turn 21 years of age for some reason.

Strangely enough, neither of them have ever committed any severe crimes. My youngest has been involved with the law frequently, though. Seems he was charged once with aggravated assault because he shot a kid with an AirSoft bb gun. You know, the ones that shoot plastic bb's? Hell, I shoot my kids with one of those sometimes!

The stupid part about the shooting incident is that he said a bunch of the kids were shooting each other and the kid he shot, shot him first. But that kid's parents filed a complaint first, so he couldn't have that kid charged as well. That absolutely makes no sense to me.

Anyway, parenting helps a lot. My youngest lived with his mother through all but one police incident. The last has been since he came here. Again his head injury comes into play. He has droopy eyelids from the injury. A cop decided that he had been drinking alcohol underage solely because of the look of his eyes and that the woman he and his brother had been assisting had been drinking. He took the Alco-Sensor breath test roadside and it came up positive. But, he had gargled with mouthwash about 5 to 10 minutes before the cop got involved. Mouth alcohol gives a seriously high indication. The thing was that he didn't even register over the legal limit to be in violation of the law.

The law sets a standard limit that they do not have to adhere to. If the officer has reason to believe that someone under 21 has been drinking, he can "arrest by citation" without taking them to jail. I guess they expect the larger number of people to just plead guilty because they are ignorant of the law.

this is funny the more and more things bad happen the more people blame games, for example if someone is street racing it has to have come from racing games, not the fact that some guy in a car challenges you, no it could never be that lol, and last i checked kids didnt go to their schools with guns and shoot everyone just because they saw it in a game, no they do it cuz they messed in the head :P , if they keep this up there gonna run outta things to blame games on lol
